why do we call ourselves chicken soup/where did we come from?

we came from SLO, Cal Poly, in the beginning, then we started absorbing others. the page that tells the story will be up soon.

what is "maggot soup"?

It's the list we created for really gross or offensive material. Many of the people subscribed to chicken are subscribed to maggot. When you get something from maggot soup, make sure your coworkers are NOT present before opening. If you think it might offend someone, send it to the maggot list.

how do I join?

You get invited to join by someone who is already a member

what do we do?

Among other things, we meet every tuesday for dinner at someone's house.

what do I bring for dinner?

While it started out as a potluck, it has moved to a "hosted" dinner model because most of us don't have time to cook a dish and drive to someone's house. Organization was a pain, too. Wine, small snacks, and sodas are usually welcome. To pay the host back, simply host the next dinner.

who maintains this site?

This site is brought to you by your friendly SAssy ASs FreaK (Michelle) and Org... FreaK (Nicole). Rachel (ASs FreaK) and Nicole (Org...FreaK) put up the original money for the URL, Nicole hosts it, and we both collected money from 'soupers for the domain. Because I can't remember the complete list of who contributed, I am not going to list them. Nicole and Michelle do the web pages. (Big errors go to Nicole)

Kevin W. administers the list. all administrivia can be sent to the email address appended to the bottom of EVERY message you get.

what is the password for the secure section?

email the org...freak. I know who is on the list, so don't try anything sneaky.

why is this site so unfinished?

because I have only so much time.

what time does Chicken Soup start?

implied start time is 7:30. If you want to be different, specify a different time.

there's to much traffic/stuff I don't want to read, how do I deal?

filters and the "delete" button are your friend.

what constitutes a chicken soup event?

a representative from each of three different households needs to be present. this is how we calculate if a 'soup was "missed" or not. Sometimes there are even two different 'soup dinners.

Tuesdays are bad for me, can we change the night of 'Soup?

Chicken Soup is held on Tuesday nights. If you desire to have dinner on another night, please post it, and we will attend!
